Insight Into The Heavy Hunks Recipe
Because of the COVID-19 global epidemic that is going on right now, you may have gone to the store and found that you couldn’t find anything you usually buy there. This is because the virus has spread so widely. Another choice is to avoid restaurants that are always full like I do. When I shop at Costco, one of my favourite things to buy is a bag of Heavenly Hunks cookies.
Even if I keep making this recipe often, you can bet that the next time I go to Costco, I’ll buy a bag of the original. I love their products because they make their cookies with simple, nutrient-dense ingredients. Nothing but the things you need to make a tasty cookie are in the package. It’s also smaller than most, which is a plus. Just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth and let you get on with your day.
How to make Heavenly Hunks Recipe at home
I went through the list of ingredients on the package and added the ones I thought most people would already have in their kitchens. Here are some things I changed about the original recipe:
Some people may have sorghum flour in their cupboards, but most people don’t know this. I didn’t use regular flour. Instead, I used oat flour, just oats ground into flour.
Most grocery stores sell brown rice syrup, but you can also use several other liquid sweeteners. Brown rice syrup is one of the alternatives (I list those below).
I used raw coconut oil instead of palm oil, but you can also use refined coconut oil. You don’t have to use palm oil. The unprocessed coconut will have a more pungent coconut taste.
In my recipe, I didn’t use potato starch.
I didn’t use any cane sugar.
As you read my version of the Heavenly Hunks oatmeal cookie recipe, keep these things in mind:
You can use arrowroot or corn starch instead of tapioca flour or starch if you don’t have any on hand. But you can’t eat arrowroot starch or cornstarch raw, so you’ll have to bake the items after you’ve switched them out.
If you want to make the recipe less sweet, leave out the brown sugar.
In this recipe, you shouldn’t use any other oil that is liquid at room temperature instead of coconut oil.” They won’t be able to stay where they are now. Even though I haven’t tried it yet, you could use peanut butter or any other nut butter in this recipe and still get a good result. Here’s one more taste, just in case!
When it comes to liquid sweeteners, there are many to choose from… Some kinds of syrup are maple syrup, agave nectar, maize syrup, and brown rice syrup. All of these things were tested in this recipe, and after a lot of hard work, the corn syrup came out on top.
Regarding how healthy they are, regular corn syrup and high-fructose corn syrup are nothing alike. Because of the change in texture, you’ll need to add two tablespoons more tapioca flour to the mixture if you use agave nectar. But they didn’t taste like my favourite cookies, Heavenly Hunks. Even though these cookies were good, they did not taste exactly like the original Heavenly Hunks.
Oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies that don’t need to be baked.
My Low Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites and Low Sugar No Bake Brownie Bites are cookie-like recipes that don’t need to be baked. If you want more no-bake cookie ideas, check out my Low Sugar Peanut Butter Cookie Bites recipe.
I made a few changes to the Heavenly Hunks I bought at the store, like taking out the palm oil and cutting down on the sugar. Those are the sugar-free and vegan dark chocolate chips I used.
Honey was also used to add sweetness to the recipe. I tried to use ingredients that were easy to find and that most people would already have in their kitchen. All I need to make my gluten-free flour is tapioca, brown rice, and white rice flour, which I buy in bulk (3 equal parts). But an item from the store will work just as well!
The Steps to follow here
- Use a mini-blender or a food processor to grind your one and a third cups of oats into a fine powder.
- In a large dish, combine the ground oats with the remaining oats, the remaining coconut flakes, and the salt.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted coconut oil, agave syrup, and cashew butter until smooth.
- After adding the liquid to the dry ingredients, continue to blend the two.
- Insert the tiny chocolate bars into the mixture.
- The batter should be pressed into a parchment-lined pan and frozen for one to two hours. Reduce to squares.
- As long as you seal the container well, you can store them in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Heavenly Hunks are the best snack because they are vegan and don’t have gluten. I decided to use honey in my copycat recipe because I always have it in my pantry, and I use it often as a natural sweetener when I bake. The flame in the cookie could cause it to lose its status as a vegan cookie. Honey can be swapped out for brown rice syrup or maple syrup to make this recipe vegan-friendly. Using honey that has been gathered ethically is another thing to think about. Even if these sweeteners change the taste of the baked goods just a little, they will still be tempting.
Heavenly Hunks is worth a try, even if you’ve never used it.
They taste just like cookies right out of the oven.
I was interested in how these no-bake cookies would taste and feel if made with regular all-purpose flour. I made the following changes to the recipe to make it better: About a quarter cup of peanut butter. Because of the extra glue, you’ll need at least a quarter cup of nut butter. All-purpose flour can soak up more liquid than gluten-free flour, so you need an extra ingredient to hold the dough together. If you add more coconut oil to the cookie, it will end up being too oily. The recipe calls for a quarter cup of nut butter if you use all-purpose flour. There’s nothing else to say! I liked the gluten-free version better.
Ingredients
- 1 cup gluten-free flour. The recipe notes have more information.
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1/2 cup of shredded coconut that is not sweetened, a little bit of salt
- A quarter milligram of cinnamon is in it.
- 14 for a cup of honey from the area. For a vegan choice, try maple syrup or brown rice syrup.
Find out how much coconut oil to use in the notes below.
Half a cup of chocolate chips. Sugar-free chocolate chips are a great way to replace sugar.
Mix the gluten-free flour and oats in a large bowl with a wooden spoon or a spatula.
After the rest of the ingredients are added, mix the mixture well to ensure that everything is well-combined. You should know that you might have to put your hands in there.
Using a spatula, smooth the dough into a 9-by-9-inch glass baking pan. Please put it in the fridge for at least two hours before you try to cut it.
After you cut them, could you put them in big squares? About 12 hunks can be made with this recipe.
Notes here
Each gluten-free flour has the exact amounts of tapioca, brown, and white rice flour. Mix 1/3 cup each of tapioca flour, brown rice flour, and white rice flour to make 1 cup. Bulk Barn is the place to go for each part. Gluten-free flour can also be found in the natural foods section of your local grocery store.
*Coconut oil needs to get hard while still being flexible. This link is the most important one. The dough needs to be put in the fridge for two hours so that all of the dry ingredients can be mixed in and the dough can be set.

You may try this at home as it will just burst a bomb of flavours within your tastebuds.
